Brett Eldredge had to go away to find his true self.
The Music Choice country favorite released his fifth album Sunday Drive on July 10 (Warner Nashville) and was kind enough to take a few minutes in his truck and give MC a call!
Eldredge went deep on his excellent new album explaining to MC’s own Craig Sampson how he’s a nostalgic guy at heart and wrote these songs from real-life experiences. Eldredge said he’s been afraid of vulnerability at certain points in his life but really opened up with this record. He took the recording out of Nashville and put the tracks down in Chicago. Giving the whole process a different vibe.
That level of personal writing and landscape shift was massive. “It makes you feel better as a person and artist,” he said. “It’s a superpower to have.”
Eldredge also explained how he had never allowed himself the space to make a record like this one. He ditched his smartphone for a flip phone, left home, and stopped listening to the radio and checking out what other artists were releasing. Doing these brought out the “real” writer in him he said.
Lastly, Brett leaves the chat with a friendly message for all his fans. Check it out below and head to the Music Choice webplayer for even more awesome Brett Eldredge content!
