DreamDoll isn’t taking any days off.
The Bronx-born artist has used the last few months to become the best artist she can be. Calling from quarantine in New Jersey she told Music Choice this is happening from her consistent drive and daily schedule. Workout in the morning and hit the studio every night. When asked if she ever wants to take a lazy day, she said that’s just not possible. There’s work to do!
The former Bad Girls Club and Love & Hip Hop: New York star broke down her new day-to-day, what she’s been cooking, and how she’s learning to play the piano in our chat which you can read below. Also, make sure to watch out for her hits on Music Choice’s Hip-Hop and R&B channel!
Music Choice: How have you been staying busy during quarantine? Any new hobbies?
Dreamdoll: Working on my new project. I’ve also started working out and making sure to eat better. Mostly I’m focusing on my music.
MC: Does eating better mean you’ve been doing some cooking?
D: I’ve been cooking but I still don’t know how to cook healthy! I can make spinach or salmon but I’m always adding lots of seasoning. I’m trying not to snack but that’s the hardest thing.
MC: What does your workout consist of? Doing some yoga or running?
D: I’ve been riding the bike and getting leg workouts in. I just want to get my cardio up and work on my breath control, so I see results when I get back to performing.
MC: Was going as hard on stage something you’ve struggled with in the past?
D: I knew I needed to focus on my breathing and not getting tired up there. Those are two huge things for me right now.
MC: You’ll come out of this thing a whole new performer!
D: Now I just need to maintain the work level when this is all over!

MC: You mentioned new music, you’ve been able to write and record the past few months?
D: I keep a consistent schedule. Workout in the morning and hit the studio at night. I’ve been in there every single night. Deadlines don’t go away!
MC: Have you been stoked about the new stuff you’re working on?
D: I’m super excited. I can’t wait for people to see my growth. I’m an anxious person. If I make something in the studio at night, I want to drop it the next morning.
MC: How have you grown as an artist recently?
D: By working on my delivery and metaphors. I want to be a universal artist and work with artists across genres.
MC: Any genres in particular?
D: I did my first pop record the other day (“Invisible”). I’m so excited about it. I worked with the Japanese artist Lili. I didn’t know that people were messing with my music in Japan! Fatman Scoop is on the track too.
MC: Are there any other genres you’re excited to venture into?
D: Right now, I’m looking to work with a reggae artist and a Latina artist. I’ve been trying to write music in Spanish.

MC: How’s that going? Do you speak Spanish?
D: I’m not fluent but know some words. I have friends who speak Spanish so I’m always asking them how to say something. It takes me a while because I want to make sure everything is perfect.
MC: You’ve been very active on social media during quarantine. Do you feel it’s more important to be present right now, letting your fans know what you’re up to?
D: Absolutely. I’m always posting videos. Makeup and cooking ones. I love to see the reactions and get in the comments. I’m a regular person too and I’m trying to develop new talents. I just started playing the piano!
MC: Have you played the piano before or is this new?
D: I have an intro on my next project that features piano and I want to be able to play it myself the first time I get back on stage. I want to shock the world. People are going to be like “when did she learn the piano?!”
MC: Spanish, piano, cooking, you’re learning lots of new things! Do you ever just want to take a day off and be lazy?
D: The minute I wake up I’m already going. If I take a day off then maybe I’ll just take the next one and the next one. It’s all about structure and discipline.
