Surprise! Taylor Swift has released a brand new album!

After announcing folklore the morning of July 23 the 16-track release went wide at midnight of the 24th. Gone are the big pop swings from past releases as Swift opted to work with The National’s Dessner brothers, Justin Vernon of Bon Iver, Jack Antonoff, and others for a more somber, scaled-back affair. Of course, it totally works!

Swift has said she wrote the album while in isolation this year, with Aaron Dessner claiming she approached him about working together in late April. This thing got cooked up quickly but has arrived fully formed. This is Swift’s eighth album and follow-up to last year’s Lover.

The album track “cardigan” has already received the video treatment and you can check out the lonely visuals on the Music Choice webplayer.

Music Choice is so excited about folklore we’re going to be streaming the album’s tracks all weekend on the Hit List channel. Stay inside this weekend, beat the heat, and fall in love with folklore!
